Crash involving deer kills driver in Gaines Township

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a female driver was killed when a deer collided with her car in Gaines Township.

It happened around 8:45 a.m. Monday on eastbound 68th Street between the Paul Henry Thornapple Trail and Patterson avenues.

Investigators say the deer came through the driver’s windshield, causing her to lose control of her car, which then hit another vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle died at the scene. Authorities are not releasing her name, but say she is from Gaines Township.
