Two Ottawa County deputies injured in crash

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies  were injured in a crash involving a police cruiser and another vehicle.

The crash happened at around 5:38 p.m. Saturday at the intersection  of 112th Avenue and E Lakewood Boulevard in Holland Township, Ottawa  County officials said.

A deputy and a trainee were in the cruiser and sustained injuries  that were not life threatening, while the other vehicle’s driver was not  injured, police said.

Ottawa County Undersheriff Valerie Weiss said the injuries were minor.

Witnesses reported the driver of the other vehicle caused the  accident by running a red light and hitting the cruiser while it was  making a legal left turn, police said.
