Woman’s body found near Plaster Creek in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman’s body was found Thursday afternoon near Plaster Creek in Grand Rapids, police said.

Just before noon, workers cleaning the creek’s edge near The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center off S. Division Avenue north of 28th Street spotted the body and called 911.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says it checked with Wyoming police and confirmed the body is not that of Ana Marie Carrillo

Police say the woman’s name will not be released until after her family is notified of her death.

GRPD says that though there were no obvious signs of trauma, it is treating the death as suspicious, which is standard protocol. An autopsy will likely take place Friday, officers said.

Anyone with information about the situation is asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
