MSU Basketball Game Raises over $360K for Disaster Relief

GRAND RAPIDS — Before Sunday’s 2:00 PM exhibition basketball game between Michigan State University and University of Georgia men’s basketball teams at Van Andel Arena, a check for $339,448.90 was presented to representatives from the American Red Cross. 

After a final tally confirming income and expenses from the game, the total has increased to $368,115.62!

$184,057.81 will be donated by both the universities, the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority (CAA), and SMG/Van Andel Arena to both the American Red Cross – Georgia Region and American Red Cross – International Services.

 After tickets sold out almost immediately, SMG, MSU, and Georgia staff received confirmation that the event would be a worthwhile endeavor.
