KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – A South Haven man who had multiple warrants for his arrest led police on a four-mile chase Monday night which ended with a crash in Kalamazoo.
It started when Michigan State Police attempted to pull the 27-year-old man over in his vehicle on Gull Road near Sprinkle Road in Comstock Township, which is east of Kalamazoo, around 11:20 p.m., according to an MSP release.
The suspect, whose name won’t be released until he is arraigned, refused to stop and led police on a chase into Kalamazoo, MSP said.
While he was headed west on W. North Street, he ran a red light at S. Park Street and crashed into a car that was traveling north on N. Park Street.
The suspect was then taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital for treatment and then transferred to the Kalamazoo county jail.
Police said that in addition to the warrants for his arrest, the suspect was driving on a suspended license and had marijuana and open intoxicants in his vehicle when he crashed.
There were three people in the vehicle that was hit by the suspect, police said. All three were also taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital for treatment, but the severity of their injuries is unknown.
