GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An 8-year-old died after going under the water in a pool near Hudsonville on Saturday.
Authorities confirmed Sunday afternoon that Mekhi Davon Ivy of Jenison died as a result of the incident.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says Mekhi went under the water around 2 p.m. at a house in the Sunningdale subdivision in Georgetown Township. A bystander performed CPR until first responders arrived to take Mekhi by ambulance to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, where he was initially listed in critical condition but later died.
