NBC News: Flint airport stabbing possible act of terrorism

FLINT, Mich. (WOOD) — The FBI is investigating the stabbing of an airport police officer at the Bishop International Airport in Flint as a possible act of terrorism, NBC News reports.

Michigan State Police say Lt. Jeff Neville was stabbed in the neck while at the airport Wednesday morning. He is in stable condition, troopers said.

Authorities say a person of interest in the stabbing is in custody. NBC News reports that the Canadian born suspect yelled “Allahu Akbar” before stabbing the officer multiple times.

MSP is still asking residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities.

The Bishop International Airport posted on Facebook that all passengers have been evacuated and are safe.

The FBI is the lead agency in the case, according to MSP.

Police officers are stationed around the Flint City Hall “in an abundance caution,” but it remains open for business, according to a City of Flint news release.

Anyone scheduled to fly out of Bishop International Airport is advised to check with their airline as the airport will be closed while authorities investigate the incident.
