MSP: 1 killed in I-94 crash near Paw Paw; both directions closed

ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police say one person was killed in a four-vehicle crash on I-94 near Paw Paw that shut down the highway in both directions.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. in the westbound lanes near mile marker 63, which is just before a construction zone, according to Van Buren County dispatchers.

At 12:20 p.m., westbound traffic was backup up 11 miles to the US-131 interchange. Drivers are advised to the avoid the area and find an alternative route.

It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt in the crash.

Before the incident, one lane was closed in the construction area for bridge work by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
