Neighbor IDs woman killed in stabbing; suspect arrested

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A neighbor is identifying the 23-year-old woman killed in a stabbing early Tuesday morning in Kalamazoo.

A neighbor said Ieshea Unique Walker looked “dead already” after the attack, which happened around 12:20 a.m. at the Interfaith Homes of Kalamazoo, located in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard.

The crime happened in an apartment right across from the neighborhood playground. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.

She was taken to an area hospital where she died.

Officers say the female suspect ran off, but later called dispatch and was arrested on Alamo Avenue. Police initially referred to the 20-year-old suspect as the victim’s stepdaughter, but later clarified that the victim was not actually married to the suspect’s father.

Authorities are still investigating, and say it is unclear what led up to the stabbing. Anyone with information is asked to call KDPS at 269.337.8994 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
