MSP: Man killed near Allegan Co. antiques store; 1 arrested

CASCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police are trying to determine what led up to a deadly shooting near an Allegan County antiques store.

At 7:17 a.m. Wednesday, troopers were called to the 1100 block of Blue Star Highway in Casco Township, north of South Haven.

When they arrived, they found the 27-year-old suspect in the backyard of a house next to The Farmhouse Glenn Antiques store, according to 1st Lt. Chuck Christensen.

He said the suspect used a handgun to shoot his 58-year-old stepfather inside the home. The victim’s wife was also in the house at the time of the shooting, but she was not injured, MSP said.

Troopers say the suspect surrendered and was taken to the Allegan County jail.
