Owner killed in shooting at BC business ID’d

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Battle Creek police are looking for the gunman who walked into business and killed the owner.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. Friday at Battle Creek Tile & Mosaic Co., Inc. at 1338 West Michigan Ave., according to Battle Creek Police Chief Jim Blocker.

Officers say the masked suspect went into the business, asked specifically for the owner, then shot him in the head. Police said the victim, 63-year-old Frank Zanetti of Bedford Township, died at the scene.

Police said the shooter has not been caught, but officers believe this is an isolated incident. Authorities believe the suspect and Zanetti had some type of personal relationship, but the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

The suspect is described as a white male who is approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue hoodie and a bandanna over his face, according to police.

“We are desperately trying to locate this person,” Battle Creek police said during a news conference Friday.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, Battle Creek Police Department at 269.966.3375 or Silent Observer at 269.781.9700.
