Three people were arrested for impeding traffic during a protest in downtown Grand Rapids. The arrests occurred on Ottawa Av near the I-196 eastbound off ramp at approximately 12:41 pm. The incident began when protesters gathered in front of the Immigration Office near Ottawa Av and Hasting St NW. As the protesters walked south on Ottawa Av, several people marched in the roadway blocking traffic. Following several warnings, a 64 year old male, a 40 year old male, and a 49 year old female were arrested for Impeding Traffic and Resisting and Obstructing. The remaining protesters continued on to the Calder Plaza without further incident.
