Save The Trees

State officials are looking for the public's help in preventing the spread of oak wilt disease.Every year, there's a specific time that oak wilt can be spread from diseased red oaks to healthy ones. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says that specific time started on Saturday. The DNR says red oaks often die within a few weeks after being infected. They say the best prevention is not to prune or injure oaks between April 15 and July 15.The fungus is transported by beetles to the trees.
