Michigan outdoor skills academy expanding to new locations

CADILLAC, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is expanding its Outdoor Skills Academy to new locations.

The program has long been based at the Carl T. Johnson Hunt and Fish Center in Cadillac. It offers expert instruction, gear and hands-on learning for activities such as hunting, angling, hiking, birdwatching and more.

Classes are designed for beginners and those with experience who want to improve their skills.

Most classes are intended for adults, youth ages 16 and older, and children over 10 who are accompanied by an adult.

A spring turkey hunting clinic is scheduled for April 8 at the Waterloo Recreation Area in Chelsea. On April 15, there will be a fly tying workshop at Hartwick Pines State Park in Grayling.
