City can’t stop Barking Boutique despite opposition

GRANDVILLE, Mich.  — It was standing room only at a Grandville  City Council meeting Monday night as people voiced their opposition to a  proposed puppy store, even though there’s nothing the city can do to  stop it.

The owner of The Barking Boutique wants to open a store at 2939  Wilson Avenue SW near Chicago Drive. However, more than 3,300 people  have already signed an online petition on change.org to keep the store from opening.

The petition started by a Grandville man claims The Barking Boutique  sells overpriced puppies and has been linked to out-of-state puppy  farms.

At the meeting, the owner of the store vouched for the breeders he uses and said he will move forward with his plans to open.
