GRCC Students to Pay $2 More Per Contact Hour

Grand Rapids Community College students will pay 1.8 percent or $2 more per contact hour in tuition for the 2017-18 academic year.

Mlive reports, the Board of Trustees voted 5 to 1 Monday, March 13, to raise tuition this fall from $111 to $113 per billing contact hour for residents. The rate for non-residents will increase $4 from $238 to $242, and out-of-state residents will see a $6 increase from $353 to $359.

Most community colleges in the state continue to grapple with uncertain future student enrollments.

GRCC is projecting a 4 percent decline in enrollment next year, and Gov. Rick Snyder has proposed no increase in state funding for community colleges next year in his budget. The fall headcount was 14,465.

Tuition and fees for 2017-18 for a resident will now be $3,849 and $7,719 for a non-resident.
