Mlive reports, a 70-year-old woman was sentenced to prison in a $7.5 million Ponzi scheme that damaged investors' financial security, and in some cases, wiped out retirement savings. The shock over Sarah Bolhuis' crimes has turned into "daily stress" for the victims, Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher O'Connor said in a sentencing memorandum. Bolhuis was sentenced Wednesday, Feb. 22, to five years, 10 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney in Kalamazoo.The judge ordered her to pay $5,224,854.41 in restitution. Bolhuis, a resident of Northern Michigan's Antrim County, was described by family as a "giving, caring and compassionate" woman.
