As the Trump administration prepares to revoke federal guidance regarding transgender students using bathrooms in public schools, the secretary of education Betsy DeVos battled with Attorney General Jeff Sessions over the issue, according to a report by The New York Times.According to the New York Times story, DeVos did not agree with the directive that would rescind protections for transgendered students and return the decision to the individual states. DeVos reportedly told President Trump that she was not comfortable with the order, but was told to stand down as Trump agreed with Sessions on the issue.Former President Barack Obama issued an order last year that directed schools to allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice. The Obama administration claimed that federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education and activities also applies to gender identity issues.
