Ottawa County City Wants To Regulate Housing Rentals

Grand Haven Planning Commission scheduled a public hearing to collect the community's input on short-term rentals. The hearing stems from a temporary short-term rentals ban in the city. Grand Haven City Council approved a four-month, citywide moratorium on new short-term rental registrations in October 2016.A short-term rental is described as a housing unit rented out at least three times a year for 30 days or less. The hearing will be Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the city council chambers at 519 Washington Ave.Since Grand Haven began regulating and keeping track of these rentals in 2008, some neighborhoods have nearly doubled in the amount of short-term rental units there, City Manager Pat McGinnis said previously.
