Kent Co. highway named for fallen Trooper O'Neill

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Gov. Rick Snyder signed a bill which will name a portion of M-44 in Kent County after a Michigan State Police trooper who was killed last year.

The portion of M-44 between Rogue River Road and Belding Road in Plainfield Township will be named as the "Michigan State Trooper Timothy O'Neill Memorial Highway.”

The 28-year-old trooper, who was on duty on a motorcycle, was killed in a crash near Rockford on Sept. 20, 2017.
