Developers seek reimbursement for Heartside project

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Developers have applied to be reimbursed for some costs of a project to fill a vacant lot in Grand Rapids' Heartside neighborhood.

Sibsco LLC and Rockford Construction are proposing to build a three-story mixed-use building on the southwest corner of S. Division Avenue and Weston Street.

The 12,750-square-foot building would include 22 apartments and ground-level retail space. The $4 million project is expected to create 10 full-time jobs with an average wage of $17.14 per hour, according to the city of Grand Rapids.

Developers have applied to have roughly $439,000 reimbursed from the city's Brownfield Redevelopment Authority for the cost of environmental site assessment activities, site preparation and public and private infrastructure improvements, the city said.
