Man dies after being physically restrained during arrest

ORONOKO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are investigating after a suspect died in police custody Monday morning.

The Berrien Springs-Oronoko Township Police Department said around 1:30 a.m. an officer was called to an address on W. Union Street for a report of a possible malicious destruction case. 

The suspect was found in the parking lot of the Fifth Third Bank branch on Cass Street in Berrien Springs. The 51-year-old man resisted arrest and had to be physically restrained when he was taken into custody, according to a BSOTPD release.
