Gun Lake Casino ditching plastic straws

WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Gun Lake Casino says it will get rid of plastic straws by the end of the month in an effort to help protect the environment.

"Both Gun Lake Casino and the Gun Lake Tribe that own the casino are dedicated to being good stewards to the environment," casino spokesman Jeff Sorensen said Monday.

Starting Nov. 1, you'll get compostable straws at the three bars, two restaurants and beverage service on the floor at the Wayland-area casino.

"We're making sure that the straws that we have are ones that will look and perform pretty much just like any other straw," Sorsensen said.
