High winds knock out power to thousands Friday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Thousands of Consumers Energy customers are without power due to high winds across West Michigan Friday.

According to the Consumers Energy outage map, more than 3,200 customers in Kent County and 550 in Ottawa County are without power as of 7 a.m. Friday.

A Consumers Energy spokesperson told 24 Hour News 8 that crews are out working to restore power, which is expected to be back on Friday. The utility company recommends customers to check the outage for up-to-date restoration times.
