GRFD conducts fire training with high school students

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Nearly 100 students received special training from the Grand Rapids Fire Department on Friday.

The department conducted fire training with students in Union High School’s U.S. Army Junior ROTC program. The training is part of a community outreach program that started in 2017 to expose students to the fire department as a possible career choice.

Students also got a taste of what kind of fitness level a firefighter must have.
