To The Point: Gov. Snyder, Rep. Brinks

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Gov. Rick Snyder is narrowing his sights on goals he would like to accomplish by the end of the year.

Among those goals is improving the state’s infrastructure, particularly for water and sewage.

“There’s still some major improvements we can do there,” he said.  “Again, we were able to make more investments in roads, but I’ve also talked to the legislature about a water fee to help with water and sewer infrastructure, (and) also a tipping fee to help replace ‘Clean Michigan.’”

Snyder also hopes to develop industrial sites around the state.

“We have brown field sites where there’s no responsible party to clean them up,” he said. “They could be great places, they’re often wonderful locations in terms of physical locations. They could be places to put Michiganders, hundreds or thousands of Michiganders to work, but we need to clean them up.”

24 Hour News 8 Political Reporter Rick Albin also spoke to Rep. Winnie Brinks, D-Grand Rapids, about the recent passing of the state's budget.
