Doctor facing charges reported missing in Kent Co.

CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Kent County authorities are asking  for the public’s help in tracking down a doctor facing criminal charges  whose been missing since Wednesday.

In January, Dr. Steven Edward Scranton was charged with criminal sexual conduct involving some of his patients. His license was suspended a month later.

Scranton was out on bond awaiting trial when he disappeared from his Cannon Township home around 10:19 p.m. on April 25.

Investigators  believe Scranton is suicidal. They say they’ve tried “traditional  investigative techniques” to find him, to no avail. Deputies say  Scranton left home with a rifle, but they do not believe he intends to  harm anyone else.

Scranton is 65 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall  and weighs 195 pounds. He wears glasses, has white hair and hazel eyes.  Scranton was last seen wearing a gray Northface jacket and jeans. He was  driving a 2015 Dodge Ram Longhorn pickup truck with a four-door  extended cab bearing the Michigan license plate DHM5056.

Anyone  who sees Scranton or his vehicle is asked to call the Kent County  Sheriff’s Office at 616.632.6357 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
