PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The West Michigan Whitecaps are set to open their 2018 season at Fifth Third Ballpark Thursday.
The Whitecaps’ 25th opening day is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. against the South Bend Cubs. The first 1,000 fans will receive a 25th season replica jersey and following the game there will be a fireworks show.
It will be a cold day for baseball Thursday. Storm Team 8 is forecasting temperatures may be in the upper 30s during the game with a west wind at around 10 mph.
