Unseasonable heat affects classes again Monday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  — As West Michigan continues to experiences an unusual September heat wave, some schools have announced half days or cancellations for Monday.

A number of schools will have half days, including:

  • Caledonia Community Schools,
  • Cedar Springs Public Schools (two-hour early release),
  • Climax-Scotts Schools,
  • Comstock Public Schools,
  • Comstock Park Public Schools,
  • Freedom Acres School, Independent Living Center and Heartlands Institute of Technology in Ionia,
  • Godfrey-Lee Public Schools,
  • Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center,
  • Grand River Preparatory High School,
  • Grandville Public Schools,
  • Grandville Calvin Christian Schools,
  • Greenville Public Schools,
  • Hastings Area Schools,
  • Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran School in Wyoming,
  • Ionia Public Schools,
  • Kenowa Hills Public Schools,
  • Kentwood Public Schools,
  • Legacy Christian School in Cutlerville,
  • Lowell Area Schools,
  • Marshall Public Schools,
  • NorthPointe Christian Elementary,
  • Northview Public Schools,
  • Rockford Christian Public Schools,
  • Rockford Public Schools,
  • St. Patrick School – Parnell,
  • St. Peter and Paul School in Ionia,
  • St. Rose of Lima School in Hastings,
  • Saranac Community Schools,
  • Thornapple Kellogg Schools,
  • Tri County Area Schools,
  • Trinitas Classical School in Kentwood,
  • Wellspring Prep in Grand Rapids,
  • Wyoming Public Schools.

Hope Academy of West Michigan in Grand Rapids will be closed all day Monday. Little Darlings Preschool in Ionia was also closed for the day.

Marshall Public Schools has also called a half day for Tuesday because of the heat.
