GRPD seeks suspect in shooting on SE side

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police are searching for a suspect after a shooting on the city’s southeast side early Wednesday.

Officers were searching a house near Feakin Avenue and Fox Street around 9 a.m. for the suspect.

The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. near the intersection of Horton Avenue and Griggs Street SE, according to a Grand Rapids Police Department news release.

When authorities arrived on scene, police found a 19-year-old man who was shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s unknown at this time what led up to the shooting.

After several hours searching for the suspect in the 1800 block of Horton Avenue, officers believe the suspect may have fled the area. A description of the suspect has not been released at this time.
