Kids’ Food Basket

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, MI (September 14, 2017) – The East Grand Rapids Hearts of Gold Varsity football game will be held on Friday, September 22nd at 7 pm at East Grand Rapids Memorial Field. Hearts of Gold is a community-based group made up of parents, students and community members striving to positively impact a partner nonprofit organization. This year, the annual event will bring the community together for dining specials and retail events throughout Gaslight Village benefiting Kids’ Food Basket, a nonprofit organization that works to provide evening meals to children in West Michigan. In conjunction Kids’ Food Basket launched their Feeding Our Future Urban Farm and Facility Project.

East Grand Rapids students pledge to raise money in a variety of ways leading up to the game, with the emphasis on making an impact on attacking childhood hunger. Hearts of Gold community members do their part by selling t-shirts, pop sockets and commemorative Hearts of Gold football jerseys, worn by players during the game and given to the purchaser to keep after the game.
