A four-hour electric interruption is scheduled to begin at 2 a.m. Sunday in portions of the Village of Sparta and Sparta Township in northern Kent County, allowing utility crews to safely perform work on equipment to maintain reliable service.Approximately 2,100 customers will be affected by the interruption. The work involves taking a Consumers Energy electrical substation within the village out of service to safely repair equipment. If needed, a backup date is 2 a.m. on May 7. Consumers Energy mailed post card notifications to customers.The general area affected is bounded by 12 Mile Road to the south, 15 Mile Road to the north, Fruit Ridge Avenue to the west and Long Lake Drive to the east.
