Wrong Way Driver In Fatal Crash Was "Super Drunk"

24 Hour News 8 reports, the Grand Rapids woman who drove the wrong way on U.S. 131 and caused a double-fatal crash in February had a blood-alcohol content more than three times the legal limit.A blood test for Jane Rachel Slotsema, 25, determined she had a BAC of 0.25 percent at the time of her death, according to a Michigan State Police traffic crash report.That exceeds the legal limit to drive of 0.08 percent and Michigan's high blood-alcohol content level of 0.17 percent, sometimes referred to as the state's "super drunk" driving law.The incident occurred about 9:45 p.m. Feb. 23, when police said Slotsema entered the highway heading the wrong way at Franklin Street, and the drove about 2.5 miles south in the northbound lanes.Her Hyundai Sonata van struck a Ford Edge, driven by 27-year-old Jonathon Yarrington. Both drivers were killed in the crash, which occurred near the 28th Street exit. They both died at the scene Slotsema traveled the wrong way on the highway for about 2.5 miles before the crash, Michigan State Police later concluded. MSP believe she entered the highway at the Franklin Street exit ramp.Yarrington left behind two young sons and a fiancée. Slotsema was one of six children; she also left behind a boyfriend
