Too Few Employees

The Holland Sentinel reports.....a months-long study of Holland City Hall staffing by an outside firm has recommended more than $400,000 in new personnel. The study began in November by Novak Consulting Group. The results of the study will likely be a large topic of discussion as Holland gets closer to approving its budget for the next fiscal year, where $119,000 in new personnel is recommended. Staff believes recommendations on staffing should be implemented over the next five years. The study evaluated the city’s performance based on the level of service it wants to provide to residents. The city declined to fill vacant positions in 2013 the tight budget years of the recession after a $2 million budget shortfall. In 2015, 55 positions were eliminated
