KCSO releases name of 91-year-old man who died in Alpine Twp. house fire

ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Kent County Sheriff's Office has identified 91-year-old John Frueh Sr. as the man who died in Tuesday's house fire in Alpine Township.

It broke out on 4 Mile Road east of Fruit Ridge Avenue just after 1 a.m. A passerby reported the fire to 911 dispatch.

Firefighters said they arrived to find the house engulfed in flames. The sheriff's Investigative Division said it found no suspicious signs and determined the cause of death was related to the fire.

The cause of the fire is still being looked into by the Plainfield Township fire investigator with assistance from the Michigan State Police.

"We extend our condolences to the family and friends grieving this loss," the KCSO said in a news release Wednesday morning.
