Gov. Whitmer declares state of emergency for Allegan Co. after tornadoes

Governor Gretchen Whitmer is declaring a state of emergency for Allegan County after two tornadoes went through the area on May 15.

The declaration allows state resources to be used to help local response and recovery efforts.

The state of emergency will last until July 3.

Allegan County's emergency management agency says the area sustained an estimated $2.2 million in damage from the storms.
