A mother awaiting trial for the starvation death of her daughter has now been charged with first-degree child abuse for the treatment of her young son, who was so weak that he couldn't hold his head up when he was found by police.
According to records, Brooklynne Davis was raising three children in a filthy apartment in Grand Rapids. When police went there in August, they found one child dead, one in critical condition, and a third, 8, dirty, but well-nourished.
First degree-child abuse is a felony punishable by up to life in prison. Davis's court hearing has been set for next week.
