GVSU conducting research on deer in Kent Co.

The Kent County Deer Management Coalition Project is now in phase two.

Kent County is experiencing clues that there may be a deer overpopulation problem, however officials say until they have all the data they can't take a definitive approach to the problem.

The Kent County Deer Management Coalition Project was created to consider what can and should be done about the issue.

On Monday, researchers at Grand Valley State University began collecting data on deer in the community.

Teams will be conducting field research though December 16 to estimate deer numbers in the area.
