Grand Rapids is installing the first bicycle traffic light.
The intersection of Leonard Street NW and Turner Avenue NW has heavy traffic with cars entering and exiting the highway which can be dangerous for cyclists.
Assistant director of Mobile GR Ariana Jeske says a lot of bike crashes happen when vehicles are turning and they don't see cyclists or don't have visibility.
The city of Grand Rapids is hoping to have several lights in place by 2026.
