The Muskegon Police Department says after a preliminary review they have determined officers acted appropriately when they opened fire on a man who attacked a bystander with a knife.
The man died on the scene.
Michigan State Police is conducting a review of the situation and will make a determination on actions by officers.
The bystander is hospitalized but is expected to survive.
