Amway River Bank Run safety preparations underway

Organizers for the 2024 River Bank Run are getting the final plans in place to keep everyone safe during the race on Saturday.

The race is expected to draw 10,000 runners.

Race director Russ Hines says some road closures will start at 3 p.m. Friday since it takes time for them to set up.

Hines says they currently have 750 volunteers and are still looking for more help.

The Grand Rapids Fire Department is also preparing in case of an emergency.
