Schurr asks Michigan Supreme Court to hear appeal

Former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr is asking the Michigan Supreme Court to hear his appeal.

Schurr is charged with second-degree murder after he shot and killed Patrick Lyoya in April 2022 after Lyoya attempted to run from a traffic stop.

Schurr's attorney argued to the Michigan Court of Appeals last September that Schurr was justified in his actions.

The court rejected the appeal.
