The Michigan Legislature is considering bills that would tackle the issue of bots buying tickets to concerts or shows in the state.
The bills are known by some as the "Taylor Swift bills" after a controversy in 2022 when Ticketmaster blamed bots for The Eras Tour concert tickets selling out almost immediately and then being resold for higher prices.
State Representative Graham Filler of Clinton County says its unfair and Michigan residents pay the price.
Filler says the federal BOTS Act makes it illegal to use bots to get around ticket purchasing limits but its mostly ineffective.
The bill would allow fines of up to $5,000 for each illegally purchased ticket.
