A new social district may soon be coming to the greater Grand Rapids area.
Grand Rapids retail retention and attraction specialist Richard App says social districts were introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to allow individuals to order drinks and move throughout a designated area.
There are currently nine social districts in Grand Rapids.
The Grand Rapids City Commission approved a social district this week for Alger Heights.
The district will run near Eastern Avenue SE and Alger Street.
