GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Michigan's Choice Tree Service, Storm Support Emergency Tree Removal and owner David Foster have agreed to pay $13,500 following allegations that they used illegal business practices and misled customers.

Attorney General Dana Nessel's lawsuit alleges Foster did not give cost estimates and misled customers into believing he would work with insurers so they would not have to pay out-of-pocket expenses. Michigan's Choice would then allegedly have customers sign contracts holding them liable for costs not covered by insurance.

Nessel alleged violations of the MLLCA, the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, and various breaches of contract.
