GRPS using AI to translate vlogs into Spanish

Grand Rapids Public Schools is using artificial intelligence software to translate materials for Spanish-speaking families in the district.

Superintendent Dr. Leadriane Roby posts video blogs on the district's website and is now able to post versions in Spanish as well.

GRPS pays $1,500 a year for the AI subscription.

Roby says 40 percent of students in the district speak Spanish and 28 percent say that is their preferred language at home.
