GR crews working to temporarily fix potholes as they appear

Road crews are working to repair pot holes as they appear.

It's the time of year the potholes pop up more often and AAA says the average pothole-related car repair costs $406.

Grand Rapids Public Works Department director John Gorney says as the weather fluctuates between colder and warmer, the asphalt dries out and cracks.

The cracks allow water into the road and when there is a freeze and thaw, it creates a pothole.

Gorney says on a normal day, they have three to four crews patching potholes on the road.
