Grand Rapids Police Department K9 officer Dozer is retiring after he was injured in a crash last summer.
GRPD says Dozer and his handler, GRPD officer Teddy VanVliet were on their way to a reported crime when their cruiser was hit by a speeding vehicle.
VanVliet was pinned in the cruiser and Dozer suffered a severe spinal injury.
Dozer has worked with a physical therapist but is not recovered enough to return to work.
