Tips to keep pets safe in cold weather

Winter weather is bringing extremely low temperatures to West Michigan and animal experts have advice on how to keep your pets safe.

Maggie Latta with Compassionate Spay & Neuter Initiatives program says its best for pets to stay inside during cold, snowy weather.

Latta says pets are still susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia despite their thick fur.

Pet owners should also pay attention to chemicals used for melting ice as many are not safe for animals.
