The Grand Rapids Fire Department is starting a cadet program.
The department is looking for 12 individuals who will work a paid internship 32 hours a week.
The cadets will learn about fighting fires and responding to medical calls.
After a four month program, they will have a medical first responder license.
GRFD hopes the program will encourage more people to pursue a career with the department.
